The promise of tomorrow,
the sleeping power with its
casual and distant politeness
penetrates the distance between
me and the galaxies, soothing my
sun-chapped skin, a subtle shift of air,
a heavenly haze into which the starry
flowers of my wallpaper fade.

I really like how soothing this is.
Thank you!
“casual and distant politeness” was my favorite line. It was a dreamy chunk you carved out, but the last word ‘melt’ may be more suited if you changed it to ‘fade’. This is my casual and distant polite suggestion given only because this was good:)
Oh definitely, I always look for feedback. Thank you for the suggestion, will change to fade.:) Did you post for gargle blaster ?
Just did.
The alliteration and assonance on the last line makes me happy.
Real and surreal all at the same time. I really like the quiet roundness of this piece.
Thank you so much for reading.
This is so soporific I felt my eyelids getting heavy. As Jo-Anne said – real and surreal, especially the galaxies line.
Oh my! Thanks so much for reading Sarah!
Ooohh love the final couplet!
Thanks so much dear Kymm!
“The promise of tomorrow” just moves me somehow. I also love how the lines came together visually.
Thanks a lot for stopping by and glad you liked it.
Your language is so rich. The promise of tomorrow, the sun-chapped skin, the faded wallpaper – wonderful!
Thanks Karen!
Lovely. Especially liked this bit: the sleeping power with its / casual and distant politeness.
Thanks Meg, yep seems like the sleeping power with its / casual and distant politeness is favorite here. 🙂
Beautiful use of language. Thank you.
:), Thank you for stopping by.
Really nice rhythm, and I love the soothing space imagery, especially “distance between/me and the galaxies,” and “heavenly haze into which the starry/flowers.”
Thank you Jennifer. Glad you liked the imagery.
This is a charming piece. The sleeping pill’s “casual and distant politeness…” Such good stuff!
Susan, thank you so much!
so lyrical and soothing.. this was a really nice piece!
Love those last two lines! The whole piece has a wonderful, dreamy rhythm to it.
Beautiful and dreamy! 🙂
The rich language you use — starry flowers, the distance between me and the galaxies, the fading wallpaper — is so inviting. I want to live in this poem for a while.
Thanks so much Nate, for this lovely comment.
I love the dreaminess of the last two lines! Awesome♥
Thanks so much Kathy.
Short but effective! My favorite type of poetry. =)
Thanks!
